The full line-up for Neue Liebe on Sunday 25 May has just been announced. Edinburgh’s premiere cabaret night will double up as the launch party for the new Swimmer One single, with a live set and a screening of the video. Swimmer One will headline, with an eclectic supporting cast of poets, musicians and other performers, including…
Ash Dickinson, a very clever and funny performance poet; Cheer Up Jenny, the musical alter-ego of poet Jenny Lindsay, host of Big Word, Scotland’s long-running spoken word night; Fanattica, a musical act who kind of defy description - go visit their MySpace page for a sneak preview; Rupert Thomson, who does ‘uncreative writing’; Diva Heather, an opera singer; Eastern European folk band The Beggar Girls; The Academy of Burlesque and Cabaret; and DJ Melvitronica.
Inspired by the cabaret of the Weimar Republic, Neue Liebe describes itself as ‘a place where both audience and performers can express themselves and explore beyond assumed boundaries of society, culture, philosophy, politics, art, love’. With, next month, some euphoric pop music to dance to at the end of it. Do join us. Pre-book or turn up early, mind. This one is quite likely to sell out.
We are going to play some new songs, by the way. Brace yourselves.
