Welcome to the website of Swimmer One. We are from Edinburgh in Scotland and we make music, among other things. If you’d like semi-regular updates on what we’re up to, type your email under the subscribe box on this page. Or just click on the RSS feed link below.
If you’ve stumbled across this site by chance and don’t know who we are, begin your visit at our biog. Otherwise, here are the latest headlines. (Or, if you have time on your hands and want something longer to read, why not pay a visit to our blog?)
Look, here’s us on stage at the Caves in Edinburgh a few months ago, playing a song from our new album, out later this year. Andrew is still wishing he hadn’t worn those trousers. (The song is called This Club Is For Everybody, Even You, by the way, not This Club is For Everyone. We didn’t write the caption)
At last, we are going to perform our song Largs Hum in Largs - or rather just outside it. In June, we can announce, we will play brand new festival The Garden Party, at Kelburn Castle in Largs, along with The Bays, James Yorkston, Found, A Band Called Quinn and many more. There’s a full list of acts at the festival website.
THURSDAY 19 MARCH - The Buff Club, Bath Lane, Glasgow. Swimmer One are guests of A Band Called Quinn at the launch of their excellent new album. There will be cabaret performers too. It’ll be a lot of fun. You can buy advance tickets at www.tickets-scotland.com.
THURSDAY 14 MAY - Carnegie Hall, East Port, Dunfermline. Swimmer One play the annual Tigerfest extravaganza in the distinguished company of Found and Cruiser.
Hope to see you there. More shows to be announced soonish.
We’re planning to release two albums this year, all being well, and are currently working very hard trying to finish them both. Nearly there. Watch this space for updates (or click on read more to find out more about them just now)…
A very happy Christmas and new year to everybody who reads this stuff. Here, as a sort of seasonal gift, are some new things to look at and listen to for free. Click on the wee link below for details…
We are playing two free live shows in November, at Oran Mor in Glasgow on Wednesday 26 November and The Caves, Edinburgh, on Thursday 27 November…
Things might be a little quiet for a short while, but after that they will get much louder. We have two projects currently on the go…
Steve Mason has cancelled his gig at the Edge festival in Edinburgh on Sunday. So clearly we won’t be supporting him any more. Boo.
If you were planning to go out in Edinburgh that night, we can recommend Neue Liebe, a special festival edition of the Edinburgh cabaret night, which we recently headlined, full of Fringe performers.
We’ll announce new live dates soon, hopefully.
Andrew
Swimmer One are playing a FREE live show in Edinburgh as part of Cabaret Voltaire’s Duty Free series of gigs. This is likely to be our last live outing until the autumn. The other two bands are Sellotape and Fangs. Hope to see some of you there.
You can see lots of pics from our recent live shows at the Swimmer One Myspace page. Someone has also posted a very wobbly but quite entertaining clip of us performing Cloudbusting on stage in Edinburgh on YouTube. You can watch it here.
Swimmer One’s next live show is something a bit special, a showcase gig in Edinburgh for Biphonic Records, featuring sets by ourselves and Luxury Car. We will be giving away A FREE SINGLE to everyone who comes, until we run out.
